NORTHERN KYOTO is a land that transmits the very origins of Japanese culture to the present day, embraced by mystical seas surrounding Amanohashidate, deep mountains, and ancient temples and shrines that mark the passage of eternal time. Bound by a sister-city alliance with Boston, they share the prestige of being historic capitals of intellect and tradition. Both stand as cities of national elegance, boasting the highest pinnacles of education.

Interwoven with their cultural architecture, autumn dyes both cities in brilliant foliage, and intriguingly, both share a profound historical connection to "tea"—a curious parallel. The crest is framed by the "Kikko" pattern, a hexagonal design embodying deep wishes for the clan's longevity. It also features the "Agehacho" crest, renowned for its use by Taira no Kiyomori and the Heike clan. Because of its dramatic metamorphosis from a larva into a magnificent butterfly, this crest symbolizes immortal rebirth, the growth of the soul, and worldly success, while projecting strength and prestige.
